Gear Rental

It is that time of year again--hockey time!  LAHA will be hosting two gear rental and fitting sessions prior to the 2018-2019 season:

  • Tuesday, November 13, 5:00 - 6:30 pm
  • Sunday, November 18, Noon-2:00 pm

Both sessions will be held at the following location:

Longview Self Storage (click for map)

105 Longview Dr

White Rock

These sessions are perfect for:

  • renting gear for this season
  • returning gear from the summer or last season
  • all other fitting needs

Note:

If you rented equipment in the summer or fall and wish to re-rent, you do not need to attend a rental session if it still fits. Instead, use the online registration system to add this season’s equipment rental to your account. If you need to exchange any equipment you are re-renting, please come to one of these two sessions and our coaches will fit you with new gear.

Please register online for both the appropriate team program and the equipment rental before coming to the rental gear session! Register here: http://lahockey.org/Registration/Default.asp?n=27583&org=lahockey.org

Off Ice Officials Training

Wes Pfarner will be in Los Alamos on November 17th at 9:30 am to train our off ice officials.

All parents, coaches, and managers are asked to attend this free training on the rules and score-keeping procedures for hockey in the state of New Mexico.  This training is required for those who will be off ice officials (timekeepers, scorekeepers, etc.) If you have already taken the class, you will not need to attend unless you would like a refresher.

The training will take place at Smiths in Los Alamos from 9:30-11 am in the upstairs conference room.

Please RSVP to president@lahockey.org if you plan to attend so that we can make sure we have enough materials.

Season news

The varsity team has been hard at work with the county getting the ice ready for the opening weekend, November 16th.

As we work towards this new season, remember that all ages above Mites will be wearing new green and gold LA jerseys.  Please remember to add that to your registration.

We will have gear rental on Sunday, 11/18 from Noon to 2pm at the White Rock storage units.

Please plan to be there if you need gear.

On another note, I would like to let you know that I am resigning my position as LAHA President.  I have enjoyed working with all of you as both Secretary and President.  I am happy to continue on as the Varsity manager and and look forward to being the Bantam head coach.

I am pleased to welcome Bob Nolen as the new LAHA President.  He is a longtime LAHA member and will be a wonderful addition to our Executive Committee.  Thank you Bob and I look forward to working with you to continue to improve the youth hockey experience in Los Alamos.

Thanks for everything,

Renee

Ice Rink Passes

Quick reminder that ALL youth hockey players need a Youth Hockey or Atoms Season Pass prior to getting on the ice for practices or games.  If players arrive at the Rink and do not have a current season pass the Ice Rink staff will not allow them access to the ice.  We also ask that all Coaches get a “Coach’s Pass” which is FREE, yet can only be processed at the Aquatic Center or Ice Rink.  It is a great help if passes are purchased prior to the first practice or game as it will eliminate the long line and processing time as everyone is trying to get ready and out on the ice.

Good News – there two ways passes can be purchased or renewed prior to the Ice Rink’s opening date of Friday, November 16th:  Participants coming in to purchase Hockey Passes will need to inform staff if they are purchasing an ATOM’s pass or Youth Hockey pass, as these are levels determined by the program registered for with LAHA, not by Recreation Division staff.

  1. Walkup Aquatic Center Front Desk: MON – FRI 6:00AM – 7:00PM; SAT 10AM – 5PM; SUN 1:00 – 5:00; MON, Nov 12th 1:00 – 4:00.  Passes can be purchased, renewed and printed/reprinted at the AC Front Desk.

  1. Online through WebTrack: https://web2.vermontsystems.com/wbwsc/nmlosalamoswt.wsc/search.html?display=detail&module=PM&subtype=Ice%20Rink.  You will need to have an online account to log-in and purchase a pass.  You will not be able to print passes, yet you can print a receipt and take the Aquatic Center or to the Ice Rink to have the pass/passes printed.  Be advised that Multiple Family Discount passes need to be purchases in-person at the Aquatic Center or Ice Rink.

By providing staff with your email address it allows us to send out an email with your log-on and password for the new system.  If you wish to send your child/children with money to purchase a pass, please ensure the paperwork is filled out and signed by an adult.  For any questions prior to Friday, November 16th, please contact the Recreation Division Administrative Offices at 505-662-8170.

18-19 Season Registration

Registration for the 2018-2019 season is now open for all age divisions.

Please read for clarification, and if it is still unclear please ask.

ATOMS

Atom Registration for Birth Year 2011 and later: First time player ages 7 and under may register free for the first half of the season, Phase IReturning Atoms of any age will need to pay for registration. If your player is Birth Year 2011 and has played before they will be a Mite, and should register below.

Recreational Teams

Recreational House: The Mite (8U-Birth Year 2010 and 2011), Squirt (10U-Birth Year 2008 and 2009), Peewee (12U-Birth Year 2006 and 2007), Bantam (14U-Birth Year 2004 and 2005), Midget/JV (18U-Birth Year 2000 and younger) levels which requires play in games against other New Mexico recreational hockey teams (NMRHL), in addition to house league games.  This will require you to travel to Santa Fe, Taos, Albuquerque and Rio Rancho to play games.

High School ages register for the highest level team on which they plan to play, see below for explainations on the differences between Midget Developmental/JV or Varsity.

High School

High school aged athletes should register for the highest level team on which they plan to play, Midget Developmental (formerly known as JV) or Varsity. Players born in 2004 have many options, Bantam, Midget Developmental, or Varsity (if selected). Register that player for the highest level team on which they plan to play. If they would like to play with the Midget Developmental team they only need to sign up for that and they will be eligible to play at the Bantam level as well; the higher fee covers play at both levels. If they do not want to play with the Midget Developmental team then they will need to register for Bantams. The key is to register the player for the HIGHEST level team for which they will play games.
